Examples from Colleagues why they are important

ROWSET

I had originally planned on sharing with you a rowset example I received from a Colleague.  I was new to People Code and had written basic sql statements.   I know found myself needing to Traverse a sql output in People Code.

The colleague was more than happy to provide a basic example of traversing a rowset.

This proved very valuable to my career in PeopleSoft as a Programmer.  Armed with this basic knowledge I was able to branch out and not only traverse the output of a SQL Statement, but, learn to use rowsets in Component Interfaces, Integration Broker technology.

This is why I feel it is always important to realize that if you cannot figure out something through People Books and need that extra little push to remember that you can ask a co-worker or a question on the HEUG and someone may be able to provide that example that helps build your career.

I feel that I should share a rowset example with you so here is one that I have, please see below.   UTA_TS_CRDTOPT is the name of the view.

Local Rowset &rsSelect;

Local integer &i;

&rsSelect = GetLevel0().GetRow(1).GetRowset(Scroll.UTA_TS_CRDTOPT);

&i = 1;

While &i <= &rsSelect.RowCount;

   If &rsSelect.GetRow(&i).UTA_TS_CRDTOPT.UTA_TS_PICK_CRDT.Value = "Y" Then

      &test_id = &rsSelect.GetRow(&i).UTA_TS_CRDTOPT.TEST_ID.Value;

      &test_component = &rsSelect.GetRow(&i).UTA_TS_CRDTOPT.TEST_COMPONENT.Value;

      &TestDT = Date(&test_date);

   End-If;

   &i = &i + 1;

End-While;

I enjoy learning from colleagues. I provide tips to my team all the time. We all grow together!

Sometimes the difference between being stuck and moving forward is seeing a real-world example from someone who has already solved the problem. Thanks to @Sandra Asebedo for reminding us that communities like HEUG help turn technical challenges into learning opportunities.
