Managing Technology Change Across Functional Teams

A year ago, Loyola University Chicago started an Academic Support Technology Committee to streamline communication and collaboration between advising and academic support staff, IT staff, and the Registrar. Championed by leadership within each of these three functional areas, this agile committee has formalized a change management process for gathering internal user needs and managing the workflow of PeopleSoft customizations, RFPs, and other technology projects. By following a streamlined, collaborative process, Loyola has been able to set priorities more effectively, involve a wider range of voices, and increase productivity. This agile process, called a "Technology Pipeline", involves:
oGathering ideas from users such as advisors, academic support staff, and others
oCurating ideas collaboratively to determine feasibility and set priorities
oMoving top ideas them into active development
oTesting thoroughly before deployment
oContinuing to evaluate and change as needed throughout the process
