The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) trained over 8,000 enrollments in 9 weeks with a training staff of 3 full time and 2 part time employees. The monumental task was accomplished by developing a Train-the-Trainer program. A casting call was issued asking for volunteers from the numerous departments on campus. The response was overwhelming; more 100 people were interested. A week long training class was developed and delivered by the training manager. The volunteers learned the basics of delivering training. Each volunteer selected a class to deliver. The volunteers learned the software as well as how to deliver the material. In addition to volunteer trainers, proctors and subject matter experts (SMEs) were recruited. The presentation will explain how the program was developed and the difference between trainers, proctors and SMEs. Details of the train-the-trainer week long class will be presented as well as the amount of time and effort involved. The program successes as well as lessons learned will be discussed. The successful Train-the Trainer program will be used as a model for future projects at UT Southwestern.
