Bio

Scott Balthazor has spent his entire career involved with Enterprise Software and Higher Education. Scott began his career as a programmer for USA Group TRG and PeopleSoft, developing Contributor Relations applications for the ERP Higher Education market. Sensing a need to help organizations use these new applications, he then co-founded the Isadore Group, a PeopleSoft consulting organization providing implementation and support services focused solely on Higher Education, which was acquired in 1999.

Through that consulting work, he was introduced to the Higher Education User Group. After meeting with the HEUG to see their growing needs as a rapidly expanding user group, he co-founded Socious, a company whose focus was on helping organizations work more effectively together and build stronger communities. Socious partnered with the HEUG in 2002 for a pilot project developing a set of tools which became the basis for the HEUG.Online. He continued to work daily with the HEUG for the next 8 years, serving as a support resource to the Board and Product Advisory Groups, serving on the Alliance planning team, and providing accounting support. As the HEUG staff grew, Scott took a more background role, working as an advisor to Lew Conner and the staff, while overseeing the continued development of the software and tools used to manage the HEUG. Over those 15 years, Socious grew to have over 150 clients utilizing the community and engagement software that originally started with the HEUG, and was acquired in January of 2017.

Having spent his entire career working in Software, in Higher Education and with the HEUG, Scott is thrilled to be able to come back full time to the HEUG.

Scott graduated from Arizona State University (a HEUG member!), with a degree in Theatre, and now lives in Gilbert, AZ with his wife, two daughters, and a couple of terriers.
