Ohio University

My love of Ohio University began in 1990 when I came to Athens, Ohio as an undergraduate freshman.  I received my BBA in Accounting in 1994 and my Masters in Education (Higher Education Administration) in 2004.  While I have been in Athens for 31 years, I have been working at Ohio University for most of those (25+ years).  In my tenure at Ohio University, I have held two positions, both within the Office of the Bursar.  I began as the Assistant Bursar where I managed financial aid disbursements and the collection of the Federal Perkins Loan in addition to the University loan programs.  During my time as Assistant Bursar, I assisted with the implementation of our legacy SIS system (Informs SIS).  In 2000, I became the Associate Bursar and began managing the accounts receivable functions of the office as well as the Student Account portion of our legacy SIS student system.

My systems work continued throughout the 2000’s.  In 2003, Ohio University implemented Oracle Financials for which I was the functional lead for the Accounts Receivable module.  During that implementation, OHIO transitioned from a fully paper process to using Oracle AR for our non-student receivables.  In my role, I continually strive to find the best way to accomplish a task whether it be by utilizing technology or changing a business process.

In 2006, I was able to lend my expertise toward another ERP implementation and was an integral team member in the selection and implementation of Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions that went live in May 2011.  Like the Oracle Financial implementation, I was the functional lead for the Student Financials module and continue in that capacity today.  I am responsible for the student financial configuration, maintenance, bundle testing, integrations, and overall account accuracy.  In Fall 2015, Ohio University implemented the OHIO Guarantee which is a tuition/housing guarantee program that guarantees a fixed rate for 12 semesters.  I was part of the team that implemented the program which included the creation of custom PeopleSoft pages and significant changes to the tuition configuration.

I have attended the HEUG – Alliance conference in 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, in addition to virtually in 2020 and 2021.  I have also participated in the HEUG Student Financial forums and on the Collections Whitepaper committee in 2014.  I have presented at Alliance conferences in 2017 and 2018.  I joined the Student Financials Advisory Group in 2017 and am honored to represent our Student Financials Community.  I am currently participating on the Oracle Cloud Focus Group for Student Financials.

I am very much a proponent of utilizing delivered functionality where possible and only request customization when absolutely necessary.

I have been married for 26 years to my husband Mike and we have 3 daughters – Meghan, Makaela, and Miah.  Mike is also a two-time graduate of Ohio University.  Meghan received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University and is currently in her first year of medical school at the Ohio University Heritage College of Medicine.  Makaela is currently in her junior year at Ohio University.
