Barry Hudson joined University of Pretoria (UP) in Oct 2006 - and was appointed as Project Director: Systems Renewal. He had primary oversight over the project to replace UP's portfolio of legacy LOB applications (primarily in-house developed Natural ADABAS) with a comprehensive OTS business suite, in this case including PeopleSoft Campus, HR, Financials and Supply Chain and CRM suites. The project also included the implementation of Oracle's BI Enterprise Edition and Oracle's WebCenter Portal, Content and Spaces product suites - all of which are underpinned by a substantial portion of Oracle's Middleware (including eSSO, Access and Identity Management, SOA suite, etc)
Having largely completed this phase of implementation of this substantial portfolio of primarily Oracle products at UP, this initiative has transitioned to one primarily focused on systems operations and deriving the maximum potential business value from the investments made - with a current focus on upgrading the portfolio of products to the latest versions and leveraging the OBIA suite of data warehouses and analytic capabilities. Barry retains oversight of this portfolio in a new role as Programme Director for Enterprise Systems
Prior to joining UP, Barry was responsible for the IT infrastructure at CSIR, South Africa (South Africa's premier scientific/technology research & deployment organisation) - where also managed the implementation of a suite of PeopleSoft HR, Financials, CRM and Portal products.
