Bio

Lew Conner has over 45 years of experience working in the higher education industry. With administration experience on university campuses, at PeopleSoft and as owner of a software and services company, he has worked with all levels of individuals on college and university campuses. Lew also spent more than 20 years helping to create and eventually lead the Higher Education User Group, and continues to serve the HEUG as the Executive Director Emeritus.

Lew’s association with the HEUG began in 1996, as a new PeopleSoft employee, coming to PeopleSoft from his job as AVP of Enrollment Services at California State University, East Bay. Tasked as the PeopleSoft “HEUG Liaison”, Lew championed the HEUG’s cause within the PeopleSoft Higher Education organization.  Lew worked with the early HEUG Board on the original PAG document that was later adopted by all of the software groups within PeopleSoft in dealing with the HEUG and, subsequently with other user groups. Lew directed the original PAG summit, which eventually evolved into a HEUG-directed activity. Until retirement in 2018, Lew served on every conference committee since the first separate HEUG conference in Dallas many years ago, when it was originally a three-person effort.  He has traveled extensively in recent years as the HEUG develops it's Worldwide resources.

While at PeopleSoft, Lew managed Customer Service for the Student Admin Beta Program, the Student Admin Charter Program, the Grants Collaborative Development Program and the Contributor Relations Collaborative Development program.

Over his career, Lew has worked as mentioned before as AVP for Enrollment Services at Cal State East Bay, Registrar at University of Nebraska (Omaha) and at Collin County Community College, and as Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Drake University. He was active in and a board member of the Student Information Systems Users group (SISU), and served on their conference committee and as conference program chair. Lew has a master’s degree in Counseling and Higher Education Administration from Drake University, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Central College in Pella, Iowa.

Lew and his wife Jen Dietrich ( a former Art Professor at the University of Minnesota, Duluth) have a blended family of 6 adult children.  When not traveling with Jen, the two of them enjoy their Two Harbors, MN view!  When stuck indoors they both love to experiment cooking international themed dishes.
