Just as Leiden University, the Netherlands, went live with Peoplesoft Campus Solutions in 2010 I joined the SIS-team. I began working in Student Records and Academic Advisement and later on swapped to Student Admissions and Student Financials, exploring potential for automating all kinds of related processes in CS. The SIS proved to be full of technical and functional capabilities and soon I found myself using a broad array of them. This is where I shifted to the more technical side of CS: query, reporting, interfacing, batch processing et cetera and security.
Currently, as SIS as a holistic system is gradually becoming less the center of student-related administration and more a part of the big chain of information flows and accompanying movement to cloud solutions, so is my role shifting from being centered around SIS as a system to integrating student related processes within the information architecture.

Recently, I was involved in the implementation of GDPR requirements and currently I am active in projects providing technical feedback on: LMS implementation, student app integrations, the realization of a fluid portal in CS for exchange students and administrative functionality needed to support processes concerned with in- and outbound student mobility. Furthermore, I am working on usability improvements, especially on using lightweight coding in pagelets to provide additional functionality that standard CS does not.

I have done several presentations at the HEUG EMEA and DEUG (Dutch user group) conferences and since 2017 I have been serving the HEUG EMEA programme team as Technical track chair.
