ElasticSearch 101 - What, Where, How and…Why is it needed?

ElasticSearch is the tool/process Oracle has delivered to allow searching of objects and information within Peoplesoft. While Elastic search exists within all pillars (HR, FIN, CS) this discussion will focus on the use of ElasticSearch within Campus Solutions (CS). In my experience, ElasticSearch, in CS, was introduced primarily to work in tandem with the Fluid Class and Catalog Search and Enrollment functions. While ElasticSearch can be used for many other functional areas, Class and Catalog searching was the primary delivered purpose. We will look at the following areas of interest related to ElasticSearch without going too deep into any one of the topics:
• Why set up ElasticSearch?
• What is needed to set up ElasticSearch?
• Where are all the pages that can affect the set-up, testing, and administration?
• How we have used ElasticSearch at Clarkson.
• Who needs to be involved?
