Did You Know? Scatter Plot Graph in Tableau - October 2020

Did you know how easily you can create a scatter plot in Tableau?

Following last month's blog about combined axis charts in Tableau, this month I will show you an example of a combo chart.

What is it?

A scatter plot is a graph that uses dots that represent values for different variables. It uses Cartesian coordinates to show values for [typically] two numerical variables.

When do you use it?

When you want to identify causal relationships, illustrating trends over time, or identifying other patterns in data. For example, you can use a scatter plot to illustrate the relationship between Final GPA and SAT Math scores for a given population of students and show the trend or correlation between the two variables, i.e. is there a positive correlation between GPA and SAT score?

How do you create it?

Let me show you!
