Maricopa Community College District

Bio

I am the Financial Aid Director at Rio Salado College which is one of the Maricopa Community Colleges. I have 23 years of experience in Higher Education. The last twenty-one years have been in Financial Aid/Veteran's Affairs administration. My prior position was Director of Financial Aid at Chandler Gilbert Community College (another Maricopa Community College). My past experience includes Financial Aid and Admissions positions at Chandler Gilbert Community College and Hutchinson Community College.

I have been actively involved with PeopleSoft and the Maricopa Community College Student Information System (SIS) since business process discussions began to transition to PeopleSoft in February 2003. Since go-live in 2008 I have continued to expand my knowledge and have extensive hands-on experience. In addition, I am involved in testing new functionality and provide training to all Maricopa Community Colleges. I manage all the PeopleSoft reports to maintain and reconcile all the federal and state programs, including Direct Loan, Pell, SEOG, and LEAP/State grant. My particular strength lies in understanding both the back end and student facing PeopleSoft functionality as well as Title IV regulatory requirements. Maricopa Community Colleges is a diverse system of ten colleges that requires significant foresight and knowledge to manage in PeopleSoft. I have been involved with HEUG since 2008, including attendance in Alliance.

In 2016 I was given the opportunity to serve on the HEUG Board of Directors. This has allowed me to expand my knowledge of the HEUG organization and the HEUG community. I have been the liaison to several advisory groups, such as the financial aid and student financials advisory groups. I also serve as Director of Partner Relations. This allows me to expand those collaborations by creating various opportunities for the HEUG and our partners to work together. We also look for ways to show the HEUG's appreciate to our partners, such as the Partner of the Year recognition. I have assisted with various regional and international conferences as well as participated in YPG. In addition, have been on various work groups that are formed to move initiatives forward. The HEUG board is committed to representing the HEUG community's interests, which is why serving has been such a rewarding experience. I look forward to ways in which I can continue to serve in this very engaged and unique organization.
