From Campus to Canyons: Planning Your HEUG Alliance Experience & Arizona Adventure!

Alliance 2024 is still months away, about 7 months to be precise, but rest assured, there's a lot happening behind the scenes as we prepare for the conference. The Program Team has been diligently working on various aspects, from keynotes, sessions, and speaker recruitment to designing the conference website and choosing a theme to planning marketing initiatives. We've also been visiting Phoenix to meet with representatives from the convention center, hotels, and the city to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for all attendees. This is truly a team effort, and I take immense pride in the professionalism and attention to detail displayed by our team, which will undoubtedly continue throughout Alliance 2024.

While the conference itself requires thorough planning, I also want to emphasize the importance of planning another aspect of your trip – exploring the beautiful city of Phoenix and the entire Southwest region. Coincidentally, the University of Minnesota’s spring break aligns perfectly with the conference dates, so my family will be traveling to Phoenix with me, and we plan to extend our stay to explore this part of the country together.

We've got the magnificent Grand Canyon on our list, a perfect destination for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. But fear not, there's something for everyone in the Southwest. You can catch MLB Spring Training, book a tee time at one of the many gorgeous Arizona golf courses, immerse yourself in local history, visit fascinating museums, tour vineyards, and discover much more.

Here are some great resources you can use to start planning your Arizona adventure:

The HEUG is incredibly fortunate to have the Alliance conference in such a stunning location, where the weather will likely provide ample opportunities to venture out and make the most of the experience. I highly encourage all attendees to take advantage of this chance to explore the region. If possible, bring along your family or friends, and consider arriving a bit early or staying a little longer. Trust me, you won't regret it. The Southwest has so much to offer, and it's a great chance to create unforgettable memories outside of the conference.

See you all there!
