The PAG:

  • Liaises with the Oracle Development Team and other PAGs
  • HEUG online – Tracks SF issues Communicates with SF listserv
  • Conference track planning/preparation
  • Representation on Committees/Working Groups/Focus Groups

The Student Financials Product Advisory Group GOALS for 2009-2010

  1. Sustain a strong exchange of ideas/feedback with Oracle on current Student Financials issues, while pursuing future development.
  2. Promote and facilitate conversations with Oracle to implement mandatory software updates required to comply with global regulations and deadlines impacting colleges and universities such as: PCI compliance, 1098-T, HELP loans (Australia), U.S. federal financial aid restriction relative to prior term charges and other governmental regulations.
  3. Continue partnership with Oracle and the Student Financials community that contributes to the development of the SF product through participation in customer guide/focus groups and other Oracle-initiated teams such as: the Constituent Services working group, Pay-to-Enroll and Self Service focus groups.
  4. Actively develop cross-PAG working groups with Financials, Financial Aid and Student Records to focus on issues related to general ledger, federal financial aid restrictions and Pay-to-Enroll, respectively.

Working toward these goals
Here are just some of the ways that your PAG members have been working toward our 2009-2010 goals:

  1.  Regular Newsletters: We have been communicating with you via the SF Update newsletter, keeping you up to date on current activities and issues. The newsletters are sent to SF Forum subscribers, so if you are not receiving them and would like to, just add a subscription to the forum at http://www.heug.org/p/fo/sc/catid=1.
  2.  We have been working on the SF Track selections for Alliance 10. Thanks to the many great submissions, this was a difficult task. We almost have the list finalized and are looking forward to a fantastic, helpful conference.
  3.  Nominations for new PAG members are also being evaluated. We have two 3-year positions, two 1-year Associate positions and one 1-year Alternate position to fill.
  4. Forming two working groups: We are forming groups to work on two high priority issues. These have been long-standing topics at Birds of a Feather sessions, as well as on the Listserv. One group will focus on refunding and a separate group will work on issues related to Third Party Billing. If you are interested in participating in either of these working groups, please contact Brad Stene for Refunding (b-stene@northwestern.edu) or Renee Picton for Third Party Billing (renee.picton@newcastle.edu.au).
  5. We will also soon be tackling issues related to the impact of the new GI Bill on Student Financials business processes.
