This is one of the more exciting posts and I am glad to be able to share this with you!

Compensatory Time in Absence Management concept

The University of Texas System has conceptualized a successful prototype and method of generating Comp Time balances in Oracle PeopleSoft’s Absence Management module. This is exciting because businesses often cannot fathom the loss of a leave type that is accrued in another module that is not available for use with a complete cascading model in Global Payroll. Most public sector employers have some sort of Compensatory Time that needs to be awarded and used like all other leave types – except this leave is being accrued based on time worked from Time and Labor.

How do you get Compensatory Time from Time and Labor into Global Payroll, you say? How can this be possible to deliver a backwards method of generating Compensatory Time from another module? How do you manage the changes in Compensatory Time earned automatically? How do you incorporate Compensatory Time payouts? How do you incorporate Compensatory Time expirations? What about Compensatory Time accrued on holidays? Oh, so many questions!

I have some answers for you.

Join me for a presentation at HEUG Alliance 2026 in Orlando, FL as I present our approach to using Compensatory Time in Absence Management once it is earned in Time and Labor. This is the only way to get the details… at least, for now.

Time and Labor & Absence Management Roundtable

Also join us for a special presentation of the monthly Time and Labor & Absence Management Roundtable; presented by Mark McManamay (University of Michigan) and Dan Webb (University of Texas System). You won’t want to miss this session!

See you at Alliance 2026!
