2010-11 Admissions PAG Goals First Quarter Progress

This quarter the Admissions PAG was especially excited about the input we received from the user community.

  • Issue Tracker Voting: Thanks to all who responded to our “nudge” email and voted on outstanding issues on Issue Tracker. This helped us form our priorities for the coming year.

  • Comm Gen Webinar: Thanks also to those who gave us feedback on the idea of doing some Comm Gen webinars. You helped us decide on the format and timeline for the webinars. Special thanks to those who attended our first webinar!

For more info on Admissions PAG activities, see the list below which outlines our current goals and progress to date:

  • Better User Communication
The PAG completed a communications plan for the year. We will continue to send a series of “How To HEUG Online” emails to the Admissions listserv throughout the year with a goal of sending one email per month. The initial email to the Admissions community was our annual “PAG Picks”- presentations PAG members would recommend. The email included direct links to the presentations. This email was sent earlier this year than in the past in the hope that the early transmission would make it easy for more people to download the presentations as soon as they were available to the user community at large. We also sent an email about a GRE fix, and we have various other emails planned for the remainder of the year. Topics include “Meet the PAG” and others that highlight HEUG Online features. We are also discussing how best to use the Admissions blog.

  • Big Picture Strategy
The Admissions PAG continues strategic discussions with Oracle as we are forming our priorities for the upcoming year and looking at admissions needs and trends in the future. Some topics of discussion include social media, self-service and transfer admissions. We hope to have this year’s list of priorities finalized next month. We will also be doing surveys on some of these hot topics.

Great News: Release Value Proposition (RVP) for Campus Solutions Feature Pack 3 which contains the Admission Applications   Web Services feature is now available on My Oracle Support! The Doc ID is 1134435.1.

  • Going Global - In more ways than one!
With our International representative also part of the ANZ Student PAG team, we receive continued updates on Alliance Down Under and changes, particularly in Australian legislation, that may impact development and Oracle resources.

  • Advocating for outstanding issues
The PAG continues to follow up on development items in progress. We are collaborating with other PAGS on a couple items that are cross-modular. We are almost done re-prioritizing outstanding items for the upcoming year. A nudge to the list serve resulted in a flurry of votes on outstanding issues on Issue Tracker which we are factoring into our prioritization. Thanks to all who took time to vote!!

  • Training Initiatives
The Admissions PAG recently presented a free webinar entitled “In the Beginning: Setting Up Comm Gen”. The webinar was presented twice to accommodate multiple time zones across the globe. 70 people attended the North American session and about 30 people attended the ANZ-friendly session. We are planning some additional presentations on Comm Gen. Details to be determined. Thanks to all who participated in the webinars!

The HEUG Alphabet Soup document was finalized and distributed at Alliance. We will also make a copy available to users at large. This doc is especially helpful for new HEUG members.

  • Release Model Strategy
We are gathering info to better understand the Release Model Strategy and find the best ways to make the Release Model Strategy transparent for users.
