Description: Do you have your Developer on Speed Dial? Do you need to know how data is organized within your PeopleSoft database? Do you need to know what Queries are using a specific field? Do you need to know where a specific record/field is available within the on-line system? Is there some data in the system I just don't currently have access to via PIA that I need to request access to? Where does your developer go to get you these answers? Well, many of them can be answered through the use of the meta-data stored in your PeopleSoft databases and available through Application Designer. But, wait... That is a Developer's tool. They don't want functional users messing with code. Application Designer can be a valuable tool to more than just developers. Let's dive into how security can be established for non-developers to allow them the ability to use the power of the object definitions to answer questions they face in their roles. Description: As of when? It’s the most important question you can ask. Databases are like rivers. They’re always moving and changing, and their relevant data changes from minute to minute. Understanding how database software platforms use Date, Time, Effective Date, and Effective Sequence is critical to obtaining valid, accurate, and relevant information, both in functional operations and in queries and decision making. The primary focus of this course is Oracle HCM, PS Query, and SQL. However, the basic concepts directly relate to Oracle SIS.

Description: Are you bogged down with ad hoc requests from units, wanting to learn the different levels of access their users have in Campus Solutions? Do you (or do you want to) conduct periodic, system-wide security audits of your users? In this session, I will talk about Michigan State University’s Campus Solutions security journey thus far, from implementation in 2021 to present. Attendees will learn about the creation and use of a new set of dashboards, based in a complex reporting view in our enterprise data warehouse. Through group discussion and audience involvement, we will also exchange ideas for security audit best practices for your student systems.

Session Title: Adios Interaction Hub! How to retire the Interaction Hub and carry on business as usual.
Description: Princeton University recently successfully completed a project to retire the PeopleSoft Interaction Hub that combined the user experience for our PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and HCM applications. The goal was to do this without having any impact on user experience as well as to simplify our architecture and support needs. In this session we will talk about the drivers for why we made this change as well as go into the technical details of how this was accomplished. We will also talk about tips and tricks and discuss lessons learned along the way.
