HCM Community 2023 Summer Recap

By Jonathan Banks posted 08-31-2023 04:44 PM

It has been one busy summer, and while campuses are often quieter during the summer months, the work never really stops for us HR & Payroll professionals. But here we are at the end of August and the start of Fall, where the real hustle begins again and campuses regain their roar. With that said, we wanted to provide a summer recap (one-stop-shop) of the discussions and webinars hosted by the HCM community.

HCM Roundtable: Gender Identity and Expression

The HCM community kicked off the summer discussing Gender Identity and Expression. This conversation was well focused on the overall state of gender identity and expression at individual institutions regardless of your HRIS system. We discussed important topics like terms and definitions. And posed the question, “Does your institution have a policy or practices (formal or informal) in place supporting gender identity and expression?” There were some standout participants from Northwestern University who took the time to share what their institution had established from both a policy and system perspective. The resources they provide their campus are extensive (link: https://www.northwestern.edu/diversity/initiatives/gender-inclusive-initiatives/). As the conversation developed, we even touched on some of the system struggles surrounding the topic specifically for PeopleSoft users who rely on integration between HCM and CS (Campus Solutions). Overall, this was such a great and relevant discussion, and you can revisit it in its entirety by clicking here.

PS Payroll for North America Contract Pay Roundtable

In June, an open roundtable on PeopleSoft Payroll for North America Contract Pay was hosted. The discussion was an opportunity for Contract Pay users to share their experiences using the feature and brainstorm solutions for issues. One of the major challenges shared were “mid-year contract changes” and how institutions addressed/overcame these from a system perspective when business practices aren’t always so flexible. PeopleSoft Time & Labor/Absence Management Monthly Roundtable

The PeopleSoft Time & Labor/Absence Management Monthly Roundtable hosted every 1st Thursday of the month by the HCM advisory group has been a HIT. Sometimes the discussions are more planned and structured, and other times the discussions are driven by the issues or solutions you as users are experiencing in the field. After nearly 8 months of continuous meetings, we think this one is here to stay.

Below you can find quick links for this summer’s roundtable recordings (no July meeting):

HCM Birds of a Feather - PeopleSoft HCM PUM Image 46

We hosted a birds of a feather on the topic of PeopleSoft HCM PUM Image 46. The image was released May 26th as the second image of the year. Some of the most highly anticipated features/enhancements of the release included: PeopleTools 8.60 Redwood Style Changes in HCM (first HCM image), Configurable Header, and the Component Lockdown Framework.  You can check out the birds of a feather discussion by clicking here. Also, don’t forget to watch the Image Highlight video and review the Image Release overview document provided by Oracle.

PeopleSoft HCM Fluid User Interface Open Discussion

We wrapped the summer up by casually discussing PeopleSoft HCM Fluid UI. By now, we are all mostly familiar with the term, but “fluid” simply means the user interface (page) is responsive and flexible to the user’s device size (small or large form-factor). This was an opportunity to have an open forum for users to ask general questions about any of the delivered fluid modules. The highlights of the discussion were Fluid Job Data (Manage Job), Fluid Approvals, and Fluid Direct Deposit. The recording can be found here. In addition, here are a couple of Fluid UI resources: PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface resource page and HCM Fluid Pages.

In close, we as an advisory group hope that you’ve found these discussions helpful. We are always looking for new topics to provide the community, and we never shy away from revisiting popular topics that you find meaningful. If you have a topic for discussion or just want to share feedback on what you like or how we can improve, feel free to reach out to any of the HCM advisory group members
