Reflections on Alliance – From the Program Chair

We are a month past Alliance 2022 – the first in-person Alliance since the start of the pandemic. I think it is safe to say that there was a shared enthusiasm for being back in person in Seattle. I know I truly enjoyed greeting my extended network of colleagues and friends. There is nothing better than catching up over a meal or after a truly engaging session.

As the incoming Program Chair for Alliance 2023, I definitely had a unique Alliance experience and perspective. It was exciting to watch the conference unfold from “behind the scenes” and yet still have a chance to attend a few sessions and engage with presenters.

I have seen a few blogs posted about people’s reflections and thoughts on Alliance 2022. The positive takeaways, lessons learned, and shared enthusiasm for being back in person is encouraging. For me, I think I truly enjoyed watching the diversity that Alliance embodies. The HEUG is embracing vendor inclusivity and expanding into content that is more than technical skills or process-driven. Alliance is a direct reflection of that expansion, and it was exciting to see that content so well received.

My musings would not be complete without a big thank you to our outgoing Conference Chair, Cheri McEntee. Her enthusiasm and dedication to the conference are unparalleled and are some big ruby slippers to fill. Thank you Cheri for not only a great conference, but also the chance to dance the night away as the “tin woman.”

Planning for Alliance 2023 is already underway, and I cannot wait to see what this next year will bring and how the program will unfold. I hope you all are looking forward to the next Alliance as much as I am.

See you in St. Louie!

Renee

Great job on Seattle! As nerve wracking as any in person conference can be, I imagine that one was even more fraught with uncertainty. Y'all did an awesome job! Looking forward to the next one!
