As part of our arsenal of web communication tools, the Academic Advisement PAG plans to begin using the HEUG Online blog and wiki features to disseminate relevant academic advising information and ideas, to gather feedback, and to establish a library of “how to” information. While the blog will likely feature PAG and Oracle related updates and be used to solicit user input, wikis will cover instructional topics related to setup and workarounds. Potential wiki topics might include batch populating/maintaining the CSv9 Academic Advisement Report, test score setup, etc. Our hope is that these new tools will make useful information more readily accessible than is the case using the existing Academic Advisement listserv.
Academic Advisement PAG members meet monthly to discuss current product issues and assist with conference planning and presentations, leverage Oracle on your behalf for new Academic Advisement related development and solutions to existing problems, monitor the Academic Advisement and other related listservs, attempt to help answer your questions and meet your needs, etc. Our membership consists of experienced practitioners who work the front lines of Academic Advisement setup at their respective institutions. We’ve included a brief introduction of each current member:

When I’m not working (on audit rules), I … volunteer with Long Beach ALIVE (Alternatives to Living in a
Violent Environment), teaching 4th and 5th grade students about domestic violence and child abuse,
that they have the right to be safe and the power to not be a victim. I’m also an avid reader of
history, especially of the American West in the mid- to late-19th century, and I play flute and piccolo in
community bands and small ensembles. I have found a way to combine these last two interests by
playing in the Ramona Town Hall Brass Band, which recreates the look and sound of a volunteer town
band from the turn of the 20th century. And on selected weekends I leave the 20th and 21st centuries
behind completely and am known as Corporal Cartwright, the Chief Clerk (and piccolo player) of the
Band of the Marine Battalion, performing at Civil War re-enactments throughout Southern California.
