Blog Series Overview:
The Campus Solutions 9.2 Blog Series is sponsored and hosted by the HEUG Campus Community Advisory Group, with the intention to assist and educate the user community on features and functionality specific to Campus Solutions 9.2.  To view other articles in the series, please go to the Article Index for the Campus Solutions 9.2 Blog Series.

Article Overview:
The intent of this article is to showcase Campus Community features and functionality released on October 31st 2017 in the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2 PUM image 7.

Article:
The seventh PUM image of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2 is currently available for download and contains some new features/functionality for Campus Community including new functionality for Self-Service Ethnicity Setup for Non-USA Regions, Viewing Completed Agreements, Variable Data Fields Display in the To Do List, Enablement of Fluid Profile Pages for Student Activity Guides, Biographic Fields Defined in FERPA Control, Constituent Transaction Management Enhancements to Accommodate Biographic and Gender Expression Data Collection, and some Campus Community Regulatory Updates.

In PUM image 7, Oracle has delivered the following functionality for the Campus Community Module:

1. Self-Service Ethnicity Setup for Non-USA Regions -

Collection of self-reported ethnicity data is an important function for reporting and planning. Updates to the existing Self Service Ethnicity Setup page for Fluid self-service allow for the selection of a non-USA Regulatory Region on the Ethnic Groups to Display page, when the functional area is Profile. This facilitates the use of the Ethnic Background page by non-USA institutions.

2. Viewing Completed Agreements -

A popular feature of Activity Guides in Campus Solutions is the deployment of important policies and deadlines to student users via configurable Student Agreements. In this release, the Student Homepage is updated to allow students to view agreements that were completed as part of activity guides. A Completed Agreements item is added to the Tasks navigation collection. This menu item is only displayed if the student has permission to access the page and there is at least one completed agreement record for the student. The user can sort and view the agreements by title, institution and agreement date.

3. Variable Data Fields Display in the To Do List –

Facilitating an improved experience for students and applicants, the Task Details Fluid page for checklist items now displays the variable data fields that are associated with the administrative function, similar to the existing Classic user interface. Institutions can choose to display variable data on the Task Details page.

Institutions can also choose to display the Organization on the Task Details page.

For checklist items that are defined with an Item Association of Organization, an Organization Name can be associated with the checklist item when it is assigned to a student, either by selecting an Ext Org ID or by manually adding a description.

4. Enablement of Fluid Profile Pages for Student Activity Guides –

With the continued introduction of Campus Community Self Service Fluid pages, more Fluid pages have been deployed for use with Student Activity Guides. This is similar to the related content services already delivered for Contact Details, Addresses and Emergency Contacts. The recently deployed pages are:

  • Personal Details
  • Biographic Details
  • Privacy Restrictions
  • IPEDS Ethnicity
  • Ethnic Background
  • Campus Preferences

5. Biographic Fields Defined in FERPA Control -

The existing PERSNL_FERPA_VW view is updated with the new Biographic fields that were added in Update Image 6 for the Biographic page. This allows the new fields to be defined in FERPA Control which in turn allows students to set up Privacy Restrictions.

In addition to the Gender-Sex Identification and Sexual Preference related data, Religious Preference and Military Status information can be added to FERPA control as well.

6. Constituent Transaction Management Enhancements to Accommodate Biographic and Gender Expression Data Collection –

In Update Image 6, Campus Community introduced configuration that allowed for Gender-Sex Identification and other biographical data collection. New fields, records, and pages were delivered to facilitate this data collection in Fluid Self Service. In order to allow customers to collect this data from external sources like admission application interfaces or third-party admission application vendors, Constituent Transaction Management (CTM) has been modified to support the new fields in the CTM staging component providing the ability to process and promote the data to production records.

7. Campus Community Regulatory Updates –

Tax File Number Verification (Australia)

A new Australia Tax File Number (TFN) verification field is added to the Person Data-Australia Record to indicate whether a TFN has been verified by the Higher Education Information Management System (HEIMS) and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

A new Run TFN Extract page (Records and Enrollment, Enrollment Reporting, AUS Regulatory Reporting, Student Data Collection, Run TFN Extract) allows you to extract student TFN data using parameters, population selection or by student ID. You can select whether to generate a TFN Revision (TR) or TFN Lookup (TL) file and verify student TFN information before submitting periodic report data. In support of the feature, the Population Update process is also updated with a new object item-SCC_PERSON_AUS.

Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) - Optional Practical Training Employment and SEVIS 6.33 Release Updates

  • New validations introduced in batch require the following values for Employer records for an OPT extension: EIN and Supervisor Information (SupervisorLastName, SupervisorFirstName, SupervisorPhone and SupervisorEmail).

  • Updated validation reports a batch error for Create Student events if the Issue Reason is not I or S. The system sets Send To = None, preventing the alert being sent to SEVIS but allows synching to Master. If a Create Student Issue Reason is S, SEVIS requires a US address.
  • The SEVIS Master - Employment/SOA page is updated with an Extension Employer check box in the Employer Details region.

8. CS 9.2 Page Display and Stylesheet Updates –

With the upgrade to CS 9.2, Oracle adopted a new stylesheet for our classic pages. This style sheet is standard across PeopleSoft applications, accommodating language translations and accessibility, and makes upgrading to new PeopleTools versions more efficient.

However, because of the scale of the stylesheet updates, there have been display issues encountered by users. Campus Solutions intends to continue to address these issues as necessary in PUM Images.

The following issues were addressed in PUM Image 7:

  • Page height and width readjustment on the Enrollment Request page
  • Correct rendering of new rows on the Personal data page
  • Adjustment of overlapping fields on the Address page

 Alignment of fields in:

  • Student Enrollment
  • Contributor Relations Organization Financial Information
  • the Course Catalog component
  • the Term Table component
  • the external system display information
  • the External File Layout component
  • the GL Interface setup component
  • the Student Financial Self Service Account Services’ component
  • the Grade Roster page
  • the Student Term Activation page
