A Question from Kevin Spletter at Griffith Uni on Casual Timesheet Entry.
We are running PeopleSoft HE version 9.0 for payroll.

We have had a project to try and implement the delivered Casual Timesheet
solution. This has run into a dead end as we can not set up the approval
process to suite the Universities requirements.

So, we thought we would investigate if was possible to build a process to
do the entry and approval part and then load to the payroll. This is
proving difficult as we can not find any delivered application where we
could load this data into the payroll. ie. any services or component
interfaces we could use to load the approved timesheets. We do not want
to have to reverse engineer a delivered process like timesheet entry to
achieve the result. So, the questions are

    1. Is there an entry point where timesheets could be loaded ??
    2. Has anybody built or know of a solution to perform this task outside of
    the delivered functionality ??

    Any Ideas folks !!!!

    Hi Kevin,

On our upgrade project to V9.0, we extracted the data from V7.6 and
loaded the data into Manage PI by Calendar in Global Payroll so we could
conduct parallel pay runs. I don't know if this is of any use, but if
so let me know and I will contact our Technical guys to find out what
was used to load the data into Global Payroll.

    Hi All,

I'm looking at our options for Global payroll archiving and in particular, managing the very large result accumulator record : PS_GP_RSLT_ACUM.

How does your institution manage the size of the above record /s

    All responses appreciated.

  • 5.  Casual Timesheet Entry

    Posted 02-28-2011 09:10 PM
    Hi Kevin

We are currently in design mode for a Casual Pay Automation system which incorporates online contract generation and casual timesheet entry, which would then feed directly into PeopleSoft Time & Labour. As part of this project we are also needing to design an approver framework which will incorporate a range of ‘approver roles’ – the plan is to have this as a customised bolt on to PeopleSoft. We are in the early stages of this project and don’t anticipate to go live until Sept / Oct.

    Our Technical Lead – Simon Steele has come up with the following questions / comments;

    1. By timesheets do you mean the raw time (reported time entries) or payable (i.e. you already know how many units to be paid) time? Do you use PeopleSoft T&L? T&L has the concept of a Time Collection Device which provides a delivered Integration Broker service interface for feeding time in. We have used this in a Proof-of-concept last year and is still our proposed approach. This feeds reported time into PeopleSoft T&L which then calculates payable time for input to GP. If you have already determined the payable time then there is a delivered Component Interface you could use to load into Positive Input.

    2. We’re creating a solution to do this – however we are using a custom-built portal presented using Oracle Business Process Management (BPM) Suite / Oracle SOA Suite. Time is captured and approved here and will be passed back into T&L as approved reported time ready for processing in T&L/GP.

Is another option for you to load the time into reported time as “needs approval” and then use a custom bolt-on to perform the approvals as required and update the status of the time directly? (this is assuming you are using T&L of course).

    I hope this helps.

    Regards

    Jane
