In case you're interested, we (Duke) have created a process which will manage files (this includes renames) on any drive which is connected to PeopleSoft. This process will allow you to rename a file created by PS Query into a standardized name. The process runs within the PeopleSoft environment, is easily managed by run control parameters, provides insight into the process, gets away from scripts / "hidden" actions within the environment and can be included as part of a jobset (as well as run independently).

Good morning –
Thank you all for your help! You guys are amazing!!!
I am going to try to use Transformations (stumbling my way). I appreciate the documentation – it is so helpful.
A little background:
We originally used Hyperion to create our extract files – the files were then sftp'd from our report-server to our app-server and used as input to several of our customized sqrs (mostly 3C programs to insert, update or delete items by file). Then, we switched over to Tableau to create most of our extract files and have scripts that "strip out unwanted characters", rename the files, and then sftp them to a desired server/location. Now we are trying to use PSQuery for most of our 3C processes, but still have a need to create extract files for our customized programs. Also, the limitation with 3C engine not being able to insert multiple checklist items to a checklist ode.

Tom,
Thank you for sharing with the community! Documentation is always a valuable asset to have with Query Functionality.

Hey Patty - as a follow-up to Dan, I am attaching a document that I created for our users earlier this year. It details how to schedule a query, and run it to email or to a file.
Several notes:
- You will need to make sure that your instance of PS can write to the directory that from which your process will read it. (It sounds as if you already have this piece taken care of, but I wanted to mention it.)
- Since you can email a file to BOX, you can schedule a query to be set to a specific BOX directory.
- Make sure you write the file as a TEXT file type. That will produce a .CSV file, with no Summary row (above the Header row) in the file.
- Finally, the most difficult part with this process is that the file name produced by these scheduled queries is always a unique name, since it writes the Process Instance into the file name. This makes scheduling a process to consume this file a little more difficult. You will need to create some sort of script/process to strip the delete the older file, and then rename the new file to the standard you want.
Good Luck!

Subject: PS Query output
Hello –
I am reaching out to the brilliant minds of the FA community to see if anyone has found a way to save the PSQuery output to an extract file automatically. I am able to manually download the file to excel, and then save (sftp) the excel file to our app-server. Then, the extract file is used an input file for several of our customized sqrs. I am looking for a way to "automate" the manual step of 'Download to Excel'.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Patty
