The Value of the Group

Recently, I had the opportunity to serve on a search committee for my institution.  The group was charged with finding and recommending two or three candidates to fill the Vice President of Academic Affairs position at our college.  The team was comprised of representatives throughout the college from different departments across academics and administration. The goal of the search was to select the top applicants to present to the Board of Directors who would eventually make the final selection.

I noticed this process is similar to how the HEUG operates as an organization.  The volunteers spend countless hours reviewing issues to provide current information to our members.  This process is crucial for members to make intelligent decisions about the future. In both my home institution and the HEUG the collective power of the group provides the value.  While everyone might not agree 100% on certain things, the broad perspective of the team informs the decisions to be made and helps us to move forward.

Once again, it is the time of year to renew your primary group’s institutional membership.  Our main goal is to make sure that your institution finds value from the HEUG. Like many other institutions, the HEUG board is in the budget process and being aware of our membership levels helps us to plan for the next fiscal year. Please check with the primary contact of your primary group and make sure they are aware of this year’s membership dues deadline!

Let’s move ahead together!

Stronger to gether

Well said Brad.  We definitely achieve more as a collective.  The value provided by HEUG membership far exceeds the relatively small fee.
