Incredible Year of HEUG Community Events

As I wrote last month (Think Global, Convene Local), the HEUG has a growing number of events of our own around the world in addition to our premier annual Alliance conference. As several of us begin to head to events outside of the US over the next few months -- including Alliance Down Under and regional community meetings in Amsterdam, Singapore, and South Africa -- it is a great opportunity to highlight our regional events in the US this year.

In June, the Mid Atlantic region kicked off the season with its long-running conference with 25 sessions, 15 vendor/exhibitors, birds of a feather gatherings for HR, Campus Solutions, Financials, Technology, and Reporting.

August found us in Chicago for another great regional event spanning a day and a half of functional and technical presentations.

In October we had three regional conferences in quick succession: the North East regional conference, just outside of Princeton; the South East regional conference at Duke University; and the Upper Midwest regional conference hosted by the University of Wisconsin.

These regional events enabled over 1,000 HEUG members from over 100 universities to come together to provide each other with rich educational experiences and engage with each other in a robust community environment. What an amazing year!

In addition to our own events, we hosted informal meetings and casual receptions at Oracle Open World in San Francisco and the EDUCAUSE national conference in Philadelphia.

Next year we will do it all over again, of course. So, keep your eyes and ears open for announcements both on HEUG Online and at Alliance 2012.

It was great to see and hear from so many enthusiastic HEUG members this year and to see sneak previews of some sessions that will be presented at Alliance 2012 in Nashville in March. I hope to see each of you at a HEUG event some time soon!
