Higher education institutions across Asia are organizing Special Interest Groups (SIG). As I write this there are independent efforts to form SIG’s in India, Pakistan and the Philippines. Sharda University in India recently hosted a teleconference with three other institutions who expressed interest in forming a SIG. The HEUG expects to participate in the next call. Pakistan and the HEUG had a very good conversation a few weeks ago and we are now looking for an opportunity to do a face-to-face follow-up. On Friday, July 19th, the University of the Philippines will host the HEUG and several other Manila institutions in an organizational conversation. Local institutions banding together to share common concerns and solutions, it’s a good thing, in Asia and around the world.
