The Alliance Down Under 2012 conference on the Gold Coast, 7 - 9 November, saw 290 colleagues from 6 countries representing over 41 different institutions and organisations. With over 60 sessions presented, an Executive Forum and Academic Registrar & Heads of Student Administration Forum, the program was full and diverse.

Thanks to our vendors for their sponsorship, displays and sessions - Platinum: Oracle, Hexaware Technologies, Red Rock Consulting; Gold: ASG Group Limited, NEC; Silver: Cyon, m-power solutions, Presence of IT, TouchNet, Unilink Data Systems and Perceptive Software. Their support helps to keep our conference registration fees at a reasonable price.

The social evening in the Garden Terrace had our delegates celebrate in Gold Coast beach culture and dance the night away to tunes of our special guest DJ - Jason Dolan - our 2011 Program Chair. A delectable buffet with options from fish and chips to sushi, the night was relaxed in cool and casual cabanas to enjoy catching up with old friends and making new ones.

The keynote speaker, Li Cunxin, entertained with his story of overcoming adversity and achieving excellence in life.

The Alliance Down Under again supported two community service projects - Dress for Success Brisbane and Guide Dogs Queensland. Both charities were delighted to be involved with the conference and the support and generosity given by delegates.

Additionally this year we provided colleagues with opportunities to interact with Oracle through Workshops and participate in PeopleSoft training prior and post conference.

Thanks to everyone who attended for a most informative and enjoyable conference.

For your diaries - Our next meeting will be the mini-HEUG late April at the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia.
