Deadlines are approaching for PeopleSoft HCM and Campus Solutions Support

As 2012 flies by I thought it was time to send a quick reminder regarding support. After all, one of the primary reasons many of us purchased vendor enterprise applications was to minimize risk by leveraging vendor maintenance and support.  In a year when many schools are working hard to complete split projects, separating PS HCM from PS Campus Solutions, working within supported software windows is both critical as well as challenging.

In an effort to reduce some of the confusion I've heard over the past few weeks I've worked with Susan Beidler to further clarify Oracle's PeopleSoft support documentation. Here's the information she's asked me to share.

--------------------------------

Tina, Oracle would appreciate your assistance in spreading the word to our community about the support for HCM 9.0 after December 2012 for customers using Campus Solutions 9.0.  Below is an excerpt from My Oracle Support Doc ID 1437607.1, which contains the background information related to this clarification.  Thanks very much for your continuing support!

Doc ID 1437607.1 Excerpt:

"As of January 2012, HRMS 9.0 is on Extended Support. Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy provides a 12 month waiver of fees associated with Extended Support for PeopleSoft 9.0 release applications. Therefore, customers can take advantage of 12 months of Extended Support for HRMS 9.0 with no additional maintenance fees (covering the time period January 2012 - December 2012).  For customers using the full suite of HRMS 9.0 after December 2012, Extended Support costs may apply.

Campus Solutions 9.0 customers need to consider the following relating to HRMS 9.0 maintenance:

All Campus Solutions (CS) 9.0 customers will continue to receive Human Resources (HR) and North American Payroll (NAP) 9.0 maintenance through December 2014 (the duration of Extended Support). This is covered by the provision that CS customers receive a Limited Use License for HR 9.0 and NAP 9.0 for which no Extended Support fees apply.  Note this limited use license does not cover other HRMS products such as Benefits Administration, Stock Administration, etc.  Since Campus Solutions has adopted the Continuous Delivery Model with the required continuation of Premier Support, Oracle will apply the same policy to the HR 9.0 and NAP 9.0 maintenance that is required for a CS 9.0 instance.

The policy covers institutions with the need to apply HR 9.0 and NAP 9.0 maintenance to the CS 9.0 instance in the scenarios outlined below:
.       Customers in a shared HRMS/CS 9.0 instance;
.       Customers in separate CS 9.0 and HRMS 9.0 instances;
.       Customers in separate CS 9.0 and HRMS 9.1 instances.

Customers using the full suite of HRMS 9.0 functionality past December 2012 should consider purchasing Extended Support to reduce risk if HRMS 9.0 is not upgraded to HRMS 9.1+. Extended Support does not include certification with new third party products/versions."

I know this is a favorite topic for many of you... but I do hope this helps.  Please send me a comment if you would like additional clarification.

HR/CS Split

The excerpt is from a confusing document that raised many questions in the first place. Why wouldn't Susan offer an interpretation in her own words as clarification. For our college, I'm still thinking we have until 2014 to implement the split without any additional support costs - but I'm not at all sure. We have V9.0 HR/SA now and will be splitting to HR V9.1+ and SA 9 in 2014. Does your understanding match mine?

thanks,

George
