Students have returned to school and our campuses are humming with activity. Alliance preparations are also in high gear. We are getting close to the end of the session submission period so if you haven’t sent yours in yet – NOW is the time! If you don’t have information to share perhaps you have a topic that is puzzling you - let your community know and a subject matter expert may take up your cause and submit a session. You will have a chance to vote on the sessions later on in October. The tracks will then review all the sessions and your votes and make the final selections for Alliance.

This year we have a new mobile app provided by Eventsential. We have been testing it in the regional conferences and it will be put through its paces in Alliance Down Under (ADU) and the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) conference before we get to use it in Las Vegas. So far, the feedback is positive and the supplier has been responsive to any issues we have identified.
For those of you planning to attend Alliance that have not been to Las Vegas before here are a few helpful pieces of information. The MGM Grand is a short ride from the airport and more details about the shuttles available will be on the Alliance website soon. The sleeping rooms and the conference centre are smoke free. It is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the main hotel to the conference centre so be kind to your feet and bring some comfortable walking shoes. There are plenty of restaurants and other places to eat in and around the MGM Grand.
This month’s fun fact: The Pinball Hall of Fame is located in Las Vegas. It is housed in a nondescript building near the airport (1610 E. Tropicana). Four hundred pinball machines from every era are on display – most in working condition! Check out pinballmuseum.org for more information.
