Kaleidoscope 2010This weekend I will be heading to Kaleidoscope 2010 in Washington, DC to meet up with some of our colleagues from the Oracle Development Tools User Group (ODTUG). Very much like HEUG, ODTUG is an independent, not-for-profit global organization providing education, support, advocacy, and networking opportunities for its members. Very much like HEUG, they do a great job at it. Their membership consists of all types of developers, using a variety of technologies, who work on Oracle Databases. We are fortunate to have a great collaborative relationship with ODTUG, in large part due to our involvement with the International Oracle User Community (IOUC).

Kaleidoscope has nine tracks this year:

• Application Express
• Database Development
• Essbase
• Hyperion Applications
• Hardcore Hyperion
• Middle Tier and Client-Side Development
• Oracle Business Intelligence, Hyperion Reporting, and Data Warehousing
• SOA and BPM
• MySQL

I'll likely spend most of my time in the BI, Hyperion Reporting, and Data Warehousing track and the SOA and BPM track. I will try to write a useful blog post about anything I learn.

One person I am sure to run into is ODTUG board member John King, who very kindly lent me his laptop when we presented at Fusion Architecture: Soup to Nuts at Collaborate 2010 in April (thanks John!).

If you are attending Kaleidoscope or would like me to drop into any specific sessions while there, by all means drop me a note at tsimpson@mica.edu.
