Technology focus areas for 2012

It's hard to believe it's already June!  The Global Alliance 2012 conference is behind us and it left me charged up with a list of technology initiatives for the year.  I've spoken with many of you over the past few months and understand that things like mobile initiatives, the increasing complexity of Oracle enterprise applications, and the costs of maintaining and properly securing our systems are high on many of our lists of concerns.

Taking all of this into consideration, I have worked with the HEUG Board, our Oracle liaisons, and the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to plan the 2012 technology focus areas.  The areas of focus this year include:

  • Analyzing and summarizing mobile options
  • Engaging HEUG members globally, know as Community Outreach
  • Enterprise architecture ideas and enterprise system deployment options
  • Effective practices for staying on top of security!
  • Bringing more consistency to the day-to-day management of our applications – known as life cycle management)
  • Successfully landing “the split” projects – Oracle is splitting the database applications for the Campus Solution and HCM systems and HEUG has built a community for those of us with work to do (see the Split Forum: http://www.heug.org/p/co/ly/gid=2322)
  • Expanding our community’s knowledge of key integration technologies needed to smoothly transition data in and out of our enterprise applications.

If you are not already engaged and are willing to participate in one or more of these efforts, please let me know.
