Do You Possess the Leadership Skills Needed in Today's Workplace?

By Mary-Ann Bloss posted 07-16-2019 07:54 AM

We are all aware of the hard skills needed in our professions – certifications, education… and the list for quantifiable skills continue. But there are other, more subtle skills that many organizations now consider to have equal importance in the workplace.

Today employers are looking for individuals, at all levels, who possess good leadership skills. Experts differ on the number of what they call soft skills that an employee should exhibit. Some feel there are five soft skills we should all know well, others say it's seven, or 15. But in reality, they are probably all correct because these are leadership strengths we should aspire to, skills like problem solving, controlling our emotions, having meaningful dialogues and leading difficult conversations.

And while these leadership skills are highly desired by employers, the data show that a large percentage of employees do not posses them, and that soft skills are not often taught. But the PCM is going to change that by sponsoring a new four-part HEUG web series that is focused on soft skills: Leading Leaders through Change.

The series will be led by one of the most dynamic speakers you may ever encounter – Kassidy Green. Kassidy is the founder and coach of KGREEN & Co., and I know from personal experience that she can help you to learn in ways that will challenge your individual growth and help position you to positively impact your organization.

The series kicks off with Leading Leaders through Change: The 4 C's that can Upgrade Your Career on July 31. During this webinar, Kassidy will show us how culture, character, communication and conflict all play in our individual and organizational success. She will also help us see the impact that "I" has on the team.

If you are near Dallas next week, you can even get a head start on the series by joining us at SCHRUG July 22-23 where Kassidy is featured as the conference Keynote Speaker.

I encourage everyone to sign up for the entire Leading Leaders through Change four-part series today as it will make a positive impact on your professional life. We hope to see you at SCHRUG and at the Leading Leaders through Change: The 4 C's that can Upgrade Your Career kickoff on July 31st.
