Announcing HEUG Board Members (2012-2015)

I am very pleased to announce the results of our recent Board Elections and to welcome the new (and 1 returning) members to the HEUG Board of Directors!

Tina Thorstenson, Arizona State University - Re-elected for her second term as the representative of 4 year colleges and universities, Tina is AVP and Chief Information Security Officer in the University Technology Office at Arizona State University.  She has spent the majority of her career implementing and enhancing enterprise administrative systems and IT infrastructure in higher education.  Tina currently serves as the VP of Technology on the HEUG Executive Board.  In this role she serves the HEUG community by educating and advocating technology concerns related to our membership’s Oracle enterprise applications (both PeopleSoft and E-business) and surrounding ecosystem.  Prior to Tina’s role on the HEUG Board, she served two terms with the HEUG Technical Advisory Group.



Mario Berry.jpgMario Berry, Lone Star College
– Elected as the Director At-Large, Mario brings over 15 years of information technology experience, 11 in Higher Education to the HEUG Board. Mario is Associate Vice Chancellor - Enterprise Applications for Lone Star College Systems.  He has background is in project management, process improvement, quality assurance, system's design and network administration; and has delivered numerous presentations and hosted many discussions on Leadership, Negotiation, Governance and Strategic Alignment of technology within Higher Education. In his role as Associate Vice Chancellor-Enterprise Applications, he has led in the post-implementation phase of business transformation for the largest and fastest implementation (18-Months) in higher education of over 40 modules of PeopleSoft supported by Oracle technology. 

 

Kathy Frawley.jpgKathy Frawley, Frederick Community College – Representing 2 year community and technical colleges, Kathy has been a Registrar for over 30 years and has been the Associate Vice President/Registrar at Frederick Community College for 15 years.  When FCC implemented PeopleSoft 8 in 1999, Kathy was the Functional Lead for Records and Registration at the college. To accomplish go live she did systems analysis, fit gap, table set up, testing, and was responsible for the integrity of the data, new and old.  Since that time she has been involved in all the upgrades and most recently implemented PeopleSoft 9. She is well versed in records, registration, campus community, advising, degree audit, self-service, and curriculum. Kathy trains both faculty and staff on the use of PeopleSoft.

 

 

Jerry Waldron.jpgJerry Waldron, Salisbury University – Elected in the newly created category representing HEUG C-Level members, Jerry has served as CIO at Salisbury University since 1998. Salisbury University implemented the Oracle/Peoplesoft suite in 2002-2003. He has presented at HEUG conferences over the years and encouraged his team to be active members. He has also worked with the HEUG Board and management team on a topics ranging from product development to the design of the CIO forum. As CIO, he is responsible for all areas of administrative and academic technology at his campus.  Jerry also served with me as a board member of the Student Information Systems Users (SISU) in the early 1990’s.

 

Mark Walker.jpgMark Walker, University of Waterloo – Replacing Don Barker (Alliance Conference Team Member) as the Canadian representative on the HEUG board, Mark went to Waterloo University as a student in 1973 and never really left.  He joined the Registrar's Office in 2001 at a time when Waterloo was moving to PeopleSoft version 7.6.  In his current position as Associate Registrar, Records and Systems, he have responsibilities in matters related to student, staff and faculty online self-service systems, undergraduate records, maintenance and production of the online undergraduate calendar, classroom and examination scheduling, convocation and frontline customer service. As a member of the Registrar’s management team, he assesses the impact of policy changes on the Registrar’s Office and the university at large and coordinates the implementation of revised policies and procedures in records, classroom and examination scheduling and self-service systems
