The California State University system developed the Advisor Requests and Records Component (ARRC) to automate the process for advisors and/or faculty to submit exceptions requests, change of majors, grade changes, thesis approval, and other information on students’ records. California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) utilizes the ARRC for submission of requests such as general education exception requests, major and/or minor course substitutions or waivers, and other updates to a student’s degree audit.Prior to implementation of the ARRC, all exception requests were submitted via paper, which often delayed the time prior to receipt of the request in the Records and Registration office. If clarification was needed from the petitioner, the processing was delayed further, resulting in the degree audit not reflecting the approved changes to the student’s degree requirements.Throughout this presentation, CSUDH will share the process in transitioning to digital exception from the implementation of the ARRC. Advisors electronically submit requests via the ARRC for exceptions and other changes to a student’s degree requirements. The initial requests for the exceptions and the final resolution to the request are stored within PeopleSoft at each stage of the process. The ARRC includes the option for email notification to students and advisors when a request is complete.
