Tufts University has nine different schools, each of which traditionally handled communications regarding Commencement ceremonies in their own way. Within Arts, Sciences & Engineering alone there are 17 different ceremonies depending on a student’s major, plus non-Commencement day events like award dinners and receptions.

We needed a way within Campus Solutions for students to let their school know if they were attending Commencement (and which ceremony), to let them know of any holds or actions that would impact their graduation, and to provide administrators with data they need to make the day go smoothly, all while making the process flexible enough to handle the requirements of our different schools. The custom MyCommencement page was developed for the 2015 Commencement to meet these needs and was for the most part very successful.

In this session we will provide a demo of the MyCommencement page, show some of the queries and reports written for the project and discuss some of the lessons learned along the way along with how we are planning to improve the functionality for next year.
