I’m happy to announce that the program for the 2019 Alliance Conference in Orlando, Florida has been released. We are very pleased with the quality and breadth of sessions that the track chairs selected for you this year. Whether you are a functional or technical user, just starting out in your career or a seasoned veteran, or anywhere in between, there are sessions that will be valuable for you across 15 different tracks.

So why come to Alliance? What makes it different from any other conference out there? As you know, HEUG stands for “Higher Education User Group.” The key word there is ‘User’: The HEUG is truly a user driven organization and the sessions at our conference reflect that fact. Over two thirds of the sessions in the program are from HEUG member institutions. That means that you are getting the unvarnished inside scoop on how to get things done from the people in the trenches at peer institutions, just like you and me. I’m always amazed and impressed by the level of camaraderie and knowledge sharing that we enjoy working in higher education, and Alliance is the one place where we can all come together and celebrate that spirit.

Once you’ve registered, be sure to look over the program and build your agenda. To do that, be sure to download the HEUG Events App. It’s available now – you can download it for your specific mobile device and also find tutorials here.

Why build your agenda before you get to Orlando? For one thing, there will be so much to see and do while there, you’ll want to hit the ground running. Building your agenda beforehand will allow you to maximize your time and your institution’s investment in attending this showcase event. With over 450 sessions to choose from in 2 buildings over 3 days, there is no way that one person can see and learn everything that will be on display. While attending sessions with friends and co-workers can be fun, it might not be the best way to cover all the material. Work together with your co-workers to divide and conquer and make the most of your time. You can always meet up at happy hour afterwards and compare notes on what you’ve learned that day.

One last thing I’d like to bring to your attention – we have some exciting new content at Alliance this year. Based on feedback from prior year attendees who wanted less structured content and more networking opportunities, I’m pleased to announce Innovation Alley. Here, in one place, you’ll find some things that you already know and value, such as Meet the Experts and Stop and Share. You’ll also find video kiosks where members of the Campus Community advisory group and Cloud Workgroup members will be giving peer demos. For just one example, be sure to check out “A Tale of Three schools P2P on Oracle’s ERP Cloud” on Tuesday morning at 8:30am. Innovation Alley is on the Dolphin Conference Center’s 5th floor. (Upstairs. Look for the signs!) Here you’ll be able to see live demonstrations in a small group and be able to ask questions in real time. It’s new, interactive, and hopefully a permanent addition to the Alliance lineup. We hope that you’ll check it out and learn how your peers are innovating on their campuses.
