Mark Erickson is the Director, Academic Services and Academic Registrar, at The University of Queensland. Prior to this appointment he was Registrar, Student Administration at The Australian National University (ANU). Mark has worked in the areas of student and academic administration for over twenty years at UQ, ANU and The University of New South Wales (UNSW). In this time he has held various central and faculty positions and had a broad range of responsibilities in student life-cycle management and student systems development. Mark worked as a business analyst on Oracle/PeopleSoft student management systems for over 5 years and then as Assistant Registrar, Student Systems. Mark’s current role oversees student administration operations, the development of academic and student policies, and University program accreditation processes. He also has responsibility for production and quality control of academic statements, regulatory compliance, appeals and grievances, and prioritising technology initiatives to improve the student experience.
Mark has a strong interest in student records, academic governance and quality assurance, and the systems necessary to underpin these activities in a modern higher education environment. Mark has presented at several student administration and student systems conferences in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States, including Alliance conferences. He has been a member of the HEUG since 2000 and was a member of the Advisory Group for Admissions for 4 years. He also helped establish ANZ Advisory Group for Campus Solutions. Mark is currently the President of the ANZ Higher Education User Group and Board Member for the Global HEUG.
