Update from the President

G’day everyone. I want to congratulate our colleagues from Down Under who are just concluding their annual conference in Brisbane Australia. They have had three days of executive forum, participant sessions, Oracle presentations and vendor exhibits all focused on the needs of our HEUG members in this region. The conference drew their targeted 300 attendees and the networking and sharing was a constant part of this more intimate conference. Most everyone leaves with new friends and contacts, demonstrating the value of our HEUG community building.

Preparations for Alliance 2010 in San Antonio are moving at high speed as our great conference team wraps up all of those final details that make the conference the success it always is. Go on out to the Alliance web page  and take a look at all the opportunities that you will be able to take advantage of during the four days of the best Higher Ed conference around. I know these are tough times to gather permissions to attend a conference. If you need any help, justifications or other materials to assist in convincing your management that your attendance will have immediate payback to your institution, just let us know and we will get you what you need.

I also wanted you to be aware that we will shortly open nominations for HEUG Board of Directors seats for next year. These seats are highly competitive but we need good people willing to serve and work hard. This is not, I repeat NOT, a “get on the board cause I need a resume entry” opportunity. If elected to this board, believe me, you will work hard and know the meaning of trying to balance your paying job with your volunteer work for the HEUG. But you can believe that it will be one of the most satisfying experiences you will ever have in your career. Watch for the announcements coming soon. Either nominate yourself or a colleague that you know is deserving and willing to serve our members on the HEUG board.

Want to see you all in person at Alliance…..Stan
