It’s the familiar tale of ‘you don't know what you've got till it's gone’. The sole responsibility of a business-critical process lies with an individual and their departure leaves the organisation scrambling to deliver outcomes and meet deadlines. Many institutions, ours included, have experienced this before and the University of Newcastle want to share our journey specifically as it relates to Tertiary Collection of Student Information (TCSI). Our story includes overcoming issues relating to having a single point of failure, the discovery of the mysterious tasks surrounding TCSI, securing resources to enable improvement in this space, how we are rebuilding our capabilities in this area and our future direction.
