Dear Colleagues As you know I have moved to the role of CIO at SCU. SCU do not use ORACLE at the application layer and therefore it is appropriate that I resign from position as President and Chair of the ANZ HEUG and as Board Member of the US Based HEUG. I have enjoyed immensely my participation in the ANZ HEUG over many years and in recent times, the US based HEUG. My former Executive Assistant at RMIT, Amanda Jones, will shortly be emailing to call for nominations to fill the position vacated by me. If you are passionate about the role of technology in Higher Education, I encourage you to apply. The role offers the opportunity to engage with ORACLE and senior staff from Universities at a national and global level. This allows you to directly represent and assert influence on behalf of ANZ members. As ANZ Chair and President, you are entitled to a seat on the board of HEUG based in the US which I found to be personally and professionally rewarding. If you nominate and are successful you will need to be able to commit to the following : . Two 'in person' board meetings in the US each year (one at the Alliance conference) . Monthly teleconference board meetings (usually 6am Melb/Can/Sydney time) . Monthly teleconference calls as a board sponsor to one of the Product Advisory Groups (PAG's) (also at 6am) . Quarterly teleconference calls with the ANZ HEUG Executive team . Attendance at the 'Alliance Down Under' conference planning meeting (usually 1 or 2 days early in the year) . Numerous (6 to 10) 'Alliance Down Under' conference planning tele-conferences (usually at 9am) . Organisation and chairing of the ANZ HEUG Executive Forum at the 'Alliance Down Under' conference plus the mini conference which is usually held in the first quarter of the year. Whoever takes over from me will enjoy the role immensely providing you are able to commit the time required. I will hand over to Amanda to call for nominations and to run the election process but in parting would like to thank all of you for your support over many years and in particular Bruce Callow who has been a tireless and dedicated advocate for the HEUG.
