    Hi Everyone,

    RMIT University is upgrading to version 9.0 and is reviewing self service functionality. We're seeking information from other institutions on this.

    1. How do those of you on Campus Solutions version 9.0 deal with online applications from students with regard to Leave of Absence, Deferrals and/or Cancellations?

    2. Do you allow this via self service (or outside of Campus Solutions)?

    3. If in Campus Solutions, do you use workflow for approvals?

    4. If in Campus Solutions, do you 'automatically' drop all classes for current and future terms?

    5. Do you allow a student to repeatedly apply for leave for the same semester if it has been declined previously?

    6. Do you insert Return Leave of Absence rows based on the student's indicated period of leave?

    USC Responses below


    1. How do those of you on Campus Solutions version 9.0 deal with online
    applications from students with regard to Leave of Absence, Deferrals and/or Cancellations?

    We currently have the ability for students to defer their application online and voluntarily discontinue from their program of study. USC no longer requires the student to indicate to us if they are taking leave but previously we had a USC customisation in place that would allow a student to take leave and indicate when they were returning from leave.
    2. Do you allow this via self service (or outside of Campus Solutions)?

    Using the delivered PeopleSoft 9.0 self service with USC customisations for deferral of application and discontinuation of program.

    3. If in Campus Solutions, do you use workflow for approvals?

    N/A we don t use workflow.

    4. If in Campus Solutions, do you 'automatically' drop all classes for
    current and future terms?

    The leave customisation and the discontinuation customisation linked into the term withdrawal engine to drop the current terms enrolment (We are yet to build the functionality to make it check for future term enrolment and drop that as well)


    5. Do you allow a student to repeatedly apply for leave for the same
    semester if it has been declined previously?

    N/A/ Students are assumed to be on leave if they don t enrol for a semester. We allow two consecutive study periods of no enrolment before we no longer consider the student on leave. If they don t enrol for a third consecutive study period then the students are abandoned due to non-enrolment.

    6. Do you insert Return Leave of Absence rows based on the student's
    indicated period of leave?

    Not anymore. But with the retired customisation we did.
