    Dear Colleagues

    Just in case you've not seen the Pre-Conference Training<http://www.heug.org/p/cm/ld/fid=384> notice on the Alliance Downunder<http://www.heug.org/p/cm/ld/fid=377> web site, please read on.

    Pre and Post Conference PeopleSoft Training

    Advance Notice

    PeopleSoft training courses are being organised for the period around the Alliance Down Under conference. The various courses will be delivered by trainers from iO Consulting. A number of Australian universities have already used iO for both on-site and off-site (web delivered) training and the experience has been universally very positive. Please refer to the iO Consultinghttp://www.io-consulting.com web page for further background information. Please note that iO only offers PeopleSoft training in the PeopleSoft Technical and Campus Solutions areas.

    The proposed dates and locations for the training courses are as follows. Depending on demand, and the number of courses, we might be able to extend to a 4th week.
    * Week 1 (21 - 25 Nov) - University of Queensland, St Lucia campus
    * Week 2 (28 - 30 Nov) - Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus
    * Week 3 (5 - 9 Dec) - University of Queensland, St Lucia campus

    No decision has yet been made about the final list of courses which will be delivered, but the decision will be guided by the results of the Pre-conference Training Interest Survey recently facilitated by Tony Neaton. However, a PeopleSoft Integration Tools (Rel 8.51) course (5 days) will definitely be delivered and most likely in Week 3. The other courses under consideration include the following.
    * PeopleSoft Query (Rel 8.51) - probably just Query 1, but we've asked iO if Query 1+2 could be compressed from 4 days to 3.
    * PeopleTools Delta (Rel 8.51) - 2 days
    * Workflow course (if available)
    * Student Financials Fundamentals (Rel 9) - 5 days
    * XML Publisher (Rel 8.51) - 2 days

    Other courses from the iO training catalogue might be possible if there is sufficient interest.

    The University of Queensland will be coordinating the delivery of the training courses. The daily charge for the courses will be governed by the number of participants, but for your planning purposes work on an absolute worst case estimate of $700 per participant per day. It will almost certainly be less than this and could end up as low as $400 per participant per day.

    If you are interested in attending one or more training courses, please register your interest ASAP by contacting Ian Holmes<mailto:i.holmes@uq.edu.au?subject=ADU%202012%20-%20Training>.
    Further to the above -

    * iO has advised they can compress their PeopleSoft Query 1 and 2 trainings into 3 days. It's highly likely this combined course will be delivered in Week 2, ie the Monday to Wednesday immediately prior to the conference. The course is suited to both functional and technical staff.

    * The Workflow course will not be ready for delivery around the ADU conference.

    * iO will be delivering a new training course ahead of the Alliance 2012 conference next year and has confirmed they will have it ready in time for delivery around the ADU conference. The course is:

    The PeopleSoft Test Framework (PTF) - 2 days
    Course Description: The PeopleSoft Test Framework (PTF) is a record and playback test automation tool used to automate functional testing. It enables PeopleSoft browser-based applications to be recorded, played back, and logged. Tests are played back after an upgrade, patch, or customization, to make sure the application still works as intended. In this hands-on class, participants learn how to create, record, debug, and optimize PeopleSoft Test Framework tests. Participants will learn how to interpret logs and troubleshooting tips will be covered. In addition, participants will learn how to administer the tool and manage and maintain tests.

    The iO trainer has been booked for the 3 weeks, it's now just a matter of finalising the actual courses to be delivered. So far the tentative calendar is as follows:
    * Week 1 (21 - 25 Nov) - TBD, but possibly
    - XML Publisher (Rel 8.51) - 2 days [suitable for functional & technical staff]
    - PeopleSoft Test Framework (PTF) - 2 days [suitable for functional & technical staff]
    * Week 2 (28 - 30 Nov) - Probably PeopleSoft Query (Rel 8.51) 1+2 (3 days)
    * Week 3 (5 - 9 Dec) - PeopleSoft Integration Tools (Rel 8.51) course (5 days)

    Functional Training - if anyone is interested in functional training I need to know ASAP, because I've not booked functional trainer from iO. Based on responses to Tony Neaton's Training Survey, there seemed to be some interest in a full Student Financials training. If this went ahead, we'd probably try to schedule it for Week 3.

    If you've not already contacted me, please let me know ASAP if you're interested in any of these training courses or other courses from the iO catalogue.

    Regards

    Ian

    Hi Ian,

    The Finance Department at USQ is interested in the Query1+2 course (for 1 or 2 functional users).
    We are also interested in a UPK course provided by iO Consulting (if there is enough interest to host it as well).

    [We are currently using PTools 8.49.29 but plan to upgrade to PTools 8.51 early next year]
