Dear ANZ HEUG Colleagues
The HEUG Technical Advisory Group (TAG) has been looking at ways to
increase international HEUG member involvement within the HEUG technical
community for the last few years.
In 2013 the TAG is establishing a new role of Regional Technical Group
Representatives. Candidates will be selected and appointed for a 12 month
term directly by each of the 3 HEUG Regions outside North America (ANZ,
Asia and EMEA) rather than through the current HEUG PAG/TAG voting process.
The individuals would be able to participate in TAG activities and hold
associate member status within the TAG but would also have specific duties
and responsibilities for the co-ordination of local peer networking and
collaboration within their respective region.
Regional Technical Group Representatives would be welcome to subsequently
nominate for full TAG membership or other HEUG committee roles.
The ANZ HEUG is now seeking expressions of interest from members of the ANZ
HEUG technical community to nominate for the position of ANZ HEUG Regional
Technical Group Representative for 2013.
Selection will be made by the ANZ HEUG Executive Committee based on the
information presented in the attached application form.
Most importantly these individuals would have the following specific duties
and responsibilities that they would have to primarily commit time and
effort to:
1. Involvement with the organisation of their respective HEUG Regional
Conference and Technical Stream.
2. Establishing and/or co-ordinating a Regional Technical Group Liaison
Network, seeking 1 or 2 nominated representatives/technical contacts from
institutions in the region.
3. Organisation of face-to-face meetings at the Regional conferences and
other SIG type meetings.
4. Facilitation of other collaboration activities between members of their
Regional Technical Group Liaison Network as and when a need requires.
5. Commit to attend (1) the North American Alliance conference, including
the HEUG Summit meeting and (2) the TAG January meeting in the USA. You
are also requested to confirm that your institution will commit to
primarily fund your travel, accommodation and other expenses to attend
these meetings. The HEUG may provide some reimbursement of costs for some
activities.
6. Commit to participate on monthly TAG calls and and TAG Regional
Representative calls; usually at 6am AEST.
7. Act as a liaison point for raising any regional technical matters to the
TAG and/or HEUG Board.
8. Re-communicate key Oracle, HEUG and TAG messages to members of their
Regional Technical Group Liaison Network.
I encourage you to consider this opportunity. Please submit your interest
to me, using the attached form, by cob Monday 11 February 2013.
If you have any questions please email or phone me.
Regards
Tony Neaton
