    Hi everyone,

USC are interested to know if you require students to submit their tax file number each time they complete a new eCAF/eSAF or if students are only required to submit it once. For each subsequent eCAF/eSAF submission do you accept that it has already been supplied?

I look forward to hearing from you.

We require students to fill it in once; store it encrypted and preload the encrypted value onto new forms they complete so that they don't have to resubmit it.

We do use the encrypted TFN value to check we don't have that TFN against another student account.

    Hi Peta,

You probably already know what we do here :) We also only require students to fill in their TFN once and then pre-load the encrypted value onto any new forms which the student needs to submit. We also have the same validation logic that David mentioned.

    Hi Peta,

At ANU we also only ask the student to submit their TFN once. We then mark this as 'supplied' on any further CAF variations/submissions.
We do not display the TFN the student has entered to them on future CAF', just the word 'supplied'.

We require students to complete their TFN for each CAF or SAF as per the Feb 2012 AIP:

43.15 Provision of TFN if student enrols in a new course of study
If a student cancels his or her enrolment in a course of study and enrols in a different course, providers are not permitted to transfer a student's TFN to the records or documentation for the new course. A student must separately meet the TFN requirements for each unit of study they enrol in [HESA s187-1(1AA)].

    Cheers,
