  • 1.  CS 9.0 Bundle # 29 – Tuit Calc/HECS Reconcilation issue

    Posted 10-01-2013 09:10 PM

    Hi All,

    USC has recently applied CS 9.0 Bundles 25-29 to our production environment and we have identified a bug within Student Financial
    Tuition Calc and HECS Reconciliation processes where the HECS Discount is not applying proportionately across all HECS charges.

    The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
    1. Navigate to Records and Enrollment, Enroll Students, Enrollment Request,
    2. Drop a class in the 100% refund period where a HECS Discount has beengranted;
    3. Navigate to Student Financials, Tuition and Fees, Tuition Calculation;
    4. Recalculate the students tuition.

    Sceanrio 1.  Full upfront payment is made for a student with the “Discounted Upfront Payment” liability status with discount proportionately applied across courses.  Back-dated enrolment add or drop is applied for a student with the "Discounted Upfront Payment" liability status.  Run Tuition Calc and discount does not apply proportionately across remaining classes. This is prior to census and processing of HECS Reconciliation.

    Scenario 2.  A partial upfront payment is made for a student with the “Discounted Upfront Payment” liability status prior to running the HECS Reconciliation Process. The correct discount amount is applied. HEC Reconciliation Process is run post patching.  The balance is deferred to HECS-HELP loan, total amount of discount is correct however it is not applying to all classes that were paid – discount has not been proportionately applied across classes.

    Oracle is currently investigating this issue via SR 3-7831780851 and may need to raise this as a critical bug due to legislative
    requirements.  In the meantime Oracle has asked me to find out if any other ANZ HEUG institutions are patched up to or
    greater than Bundle # 29 with a similar vanilla code line as USC.  If yes, has the institution experienced
    similar issues with HECS Discounts?

    I look forward to your response.

    Regards
