ANZ HEUG - Call for nominations for Chair

  • 1.  ANZ HEUG - Call for nominations for Chair

    Posted 09-11-2015 03:17 AM
    Dear colleague

Gail White has given notice that she plans to step down as Chair of the ANZ
HEUG after five years in the role. We look forward to acknowledging her
significant contribution at the Alliance Downunder conference.

I am now writing to call for nominations for the Chair of the ANZ Higher
Education User Group (HEUG) for the remainder of this two-year term from 4
November 2015 to 31 October 2016. I attach a nomination form you can use
for this purpose, along with a copy of our Charter.

The closing date for nominations will be close-of-business on *Friday 8
    October 2015*.

The current two-year terms for Deputy Chair, Secretary, and elected member
of the executive committee will also expire this year. The Chair will call
for nominations for these positions at the Executive Forum on 4 November
    2015.

    ELECTION PROCESS

If I receive more than one nomination for the position I will hold a
ballot. I will then invite nominees to provide a written statement (if this
has not already been provided) to explain what they could offer to the ANZ
HEUG and will circulate these to all members. Voting will then open for two
weeks using a confidential online poll. Each member institution will have
two votes through members of the Executive Forum.

    ABOUT THE ROLE OF CHAIR

Gail White, current Chair, has written recently about the role:

*The role offers the opportunity to engage with Oracle and senior staff
from Universities at a national and global level. This allows you to
directly represent and assert influence on behalf of ANZ members. As ANZ
Chair and President, you are entitled to a seat on the Board of the HEUG
based in the US which I have found to be personally and professionally
rewarding. If you nominate and are successful you will need to be able to
commit to the following:* Three 'in person' Board meetings in the US each
year (one at the Alliance conference)* Monthly teleconference Board
meetings (usually 6am AEST)* Monthly teleconference calls as a Board
sponsor to one of the Product Advisory Groups (PAGs) (also 6am AEST)*
Quarterly teleconference calls with the ANZ HEUG Executive team* As
Conference Chair, attendance at the Alliance Down Under conference planning
meeting (usually 1 or 2 days early in the year)* Numerous (6 to 10)
Alliance Down Under conference planning tele-conferences (usually 9am
AEST)* Organisation and chairing of the ANZ HEUG Executive Forum at the
Alliance Down Under conference plus the mini conference which is usually
held in the first half of the year* Attendance at the Asia Pacific Oracle
    User Community meeting*

More information is available in the attached charter.
