  • 1.  Use of Component Interface functionality for uploading program structures

    Posted 04-27-2017 02:49 AM
    Good afternoon!

FedUni is looking at using CI functionality as a method of uploading program structures into Campus Solutions, as a replacement for our current manual data entry process. As we have not used this functionality previously I am hoping that there is another institution out there who has successfully used CIs for this purpose. We are looking to implement program enrolment functionality for our HE students in the next 12-18 months (we currently use it for our TAFE/VET students), and the ability to quickly and accurately upload program structures is an integral part of this process.

If your institution uses CI uploads, for program structures, academic calendars, or any other purpose in Campus Solutions, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

    Thanks in anticipation,
    Shani

    Hi Shani

At USQ we use CIs to load course fees, and to update Term History for our students who have been placed on conditional academic standing. These are fairly simple as far as the data goes so nothing as complex as what you are looking at using CI for.

    Kind Regards
    Kristin

    Shani,

Here at Adelaide, we use Ci's to update student related data - but not for mass upload/update of configuration data. Happy to talk further if you would like more information.

    Cheers,
    Steph

    Hi Shani,

We use ExceltoCI a fair bit at ANU. Not Program Enrolment specifically, but we do use them for Program and Plan setup data as well as populating data into the Academic Item Registry. We do this both for the occasional mass upload/change and also as a standardised method for creating new programs etc.

Happy to share a guide/template or have a quick chat about the process if you like.

    Hi

At UniSA we try to use CI's  whenever we are adding/updating data on a regular basis so that the business logic is applied and data relationships are maintained.   Examples are data going into admissions from third party systems or file load, maintenance of program, plan and course data from out Program and Course Management system,  student enrolments from any source outside of the Campus Solutions pages (e.g our student facing enrolment system uses web services and CIs to create enrolments), using Financial Aid for research scholarships.   We also utilise CI's when doing major data conversions (such as when we rolled out the research management functionality) for the same reason  - it allows the system to take care of how the data is validated and inserted.   Happy to share our experiences with you!

    Regards
