Subject: [anz.heug] - Call for nominations - Executive Committee of the ANZ Higher Education User Group (HEUG)
Dear colleagues
Nominations are called for positions of Deputy, Secretary and Elected Member/s of the Executive Committee of the ANZ Higher Education User Group (HEUG) for a two-year term from June 2019 to June 2021. A nomination and election process is required this year according to the Charter.
The nomination form and a copy of our Charter is attached. The closing date for nominations will be 9am on Wednesday 12 June 2019.
If more than one nomination is received for a position a vote will be held during the Forum (one vote per member institution). The outcome will be declared at the conclusion of the Forum and Office Bearers commence in their roles thereafter
ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The current Executive Committee members are:
Ø John Reed (UNSW), Chair
Ø Mark Erikson (UQ), Past President
Ø Dave Lamb (University of Adelaide), Deputy Chair (VACANT)
Ø Cathy McGrath (Griffith University), Secretary (VACANT)
Ø Elected Member: Russell Barron (University of Auckland), withdrawn member. (VACANT)
An Executive Committee (hereafter called ‘the Executive’) will be elected by the Executive Forum at an Annual Meeting of the Executive Forum to organise the affairs of the ANZ HEUG, including the following:
· arranging Executive Forum meetings
· developing and reviewing strategic directions
· monitoring working parties
· representing and acting for the ANZ HEUG between meetings as required
· canvassing the opinions of members between meetings
· organising an annual conference and other meetings of the ANZ HEUG as necessary.
The Executive should ensure that the views and opinions expressed in undertaking their duties reflect the collective views and opinions of member institutions. If in doubt on an issue, the Executive will canvass the Executive Forum.
The Executive will consist of the Chair, the Deputy Chair, the Secretary, an elected member, and the immediate past Chair for two years following that person’s term as Chair.
The five elected members will be elected for two year terms at the Annual Meeting of the ANZ HEUG, with the Chair being elected in even‐numbered years and the Deputy Chair and the other elected members being elected in odd‐numbered years. Members are encouraged to make nominations and to vote in such a way that the Executive Committee consists of members from a range of institutions across Australia and New Zealand.
Nominations will be called at the time that notice of the Annual Meeting is issued, and will close during the meeting. Nominations must be in writing, bearing the signatures of the nominee, nominator and seconder. Voting will be by secret ballot, and the person with the most votes will be elected. Office Bearers will take office at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting.
The Executive will meet (electronically or face‐face) at least twice per year. A record of such meetings will be prepared and distributed to all members in a timely manner. Records of meetings are to be permanently kept.
Any travel costs for members of the Executive will be met by their employers.
