Keith,
1.
For office 2003 on XP the drilltopia.xla file should be added to "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART" if only for individual users. If you want it available for all users on that PC then "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\XLSTART" should be used instead.
2.
Internet Explorer in all version is "special". Some users will have previously selected something as a "Do always" and this will be causing the different behaviour. There is very little you can do here other than deleting the user profile from that computer and starting again.
3.
Ren Server Error: What is the error you are encountering. Are the REN servers running? You can test them by logging into your application and navigating to "PeopleTools->REN Server Configuration->REN Server Cluster" Perform a ping and buffer test of all active clusters. If some work and others do not, then inactivate the faulty ones before deleting them.
I hope this information proves useful.

Bruce

Subject: [anz.heug] - nVision Excel Add in and Ren Server Error
UB has recently implemented version FSCM 9.0 with Peopletools 8.49 and is using nVision reporting across the organisation. We currently use excel 2003 and are having difficulty with the nVision "add in" to excel. The problems we are experiencing are not consistent across our user base, what is working for some users does not work for others.
Our main problems are:
1. The excel "add in" does not stay on the excel menu (for some users).
2. Some users report that when viewing reports in the web version of excel they are unable to click on the nVision drill down menu. It appears on their menu, however they are unable to activate it (in IE 6.0). The same users do not experience this issue when viewing a local version of the report.
In addition when running a drill down if the layout is run in "window" rather than "web" a message is displayed indicating a Ren Server error, however the process continues and runs to success.
Any assistance / advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Keith Caldwell
