About 8 years ago the University of Amsterdam (UvA) built an interface between PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (CS) and Blackboard (BB). Last year, the UvA implemented Canvas as their new LMS. We changed the existing interface so we could use it for Canvas and made some enhancements, based on the experience with the CS-BB interface. In this presentation we will first demonstrate the basic functionality (export of course/class information and student-enrollments) and the enhancements (feed-back on status in Canvas within CS) and then take a dive into the technical aspects of this interface (webservices, triggers, query's and views). In the initial version we were not able to use the functionality of SAIP, now we can use it partly (only the 'cobol-trigger' for class-enrollments, not for exporting our customized course-structure).Because our other partner-universities (HvA and Leiden) chose Brightspace as their LMS, we are rebuilding the Canvas-interface to a more universal CS-LMS interface. We will show that this is no problem technically, but that differences in course/class structure are more difficult to cope with.
