Federation University are currently upgrading to Campus Solutions 9.2. This upgrade allows us to utilise the new Fluid pages being delivered by Oracle, particularly around Self Service. Currently we are using a very vanilla version of Self Service and 3C Checklist functionality to support our Enrolment Checklist. During the upgrade we saw an opportunity to improve this design and give our students the experience they have been crying out for. A recent student survey showed the most common request was for the ability to enrol on a mobile device. So we have set out to use a combination of the Oracle delivered Self Service pages, Activity Guides for processes such as the Enrolment Checklist and Application to Graduate, and our own customised fluid pages for anything in Self Service that is yet to be delivered by Oracle. We found that whilst there are many tutorials and training opportunities cropping up for developers on how to develop in Fluid, there is nothing that talks about the change in design for Functional staff. This presentation will cover the experience we have had changing our design methodology to incorporate a responsive design focusing on user experience, how roles and responsibilities have shifted between Functional Analyst and Developer, along with a peek at the design we are due to implement in 2018.
